The wrought ironwork survived the war rather better in Melbourne, than it did in many parts of the UK. This is in Powlett Street not far from the Melboune cricket ground.
Flinders Street Station in the centre of the city.
Relaxing with our friends, Helen and Trevor ...;(Trevor, a retired concert pianist, had earlier delighted us with a private recital of some of our favourite music.)
... and meeting the Neighbours, Chris with Jackie Woodburne,
and Chris at the end of PIn Oak Court - the real "Ramsey Street"
Woodend, a small town north of Melbourne ...
... and the peace and quiet of the countryside.
We hope you've enjoyed this "snapshot" of our holiday - a rather special one to help us
celebrate the 60th birthdays both Hilary and I had this year.
It was also the fulfilment of a promise I made to Hilary 26 years ago, when I returned from an 8-week concert tour of
Australia, that we would go back as a family one day.
